Drydocking & Retrofitting
Scorpio has completed over 150 vessel dockings in reputable shipyards over the last decade, showcasing extensive experience in drydocking procedures. Notable projects include transitioning cargo coatings from Zinc Silicate to Marine line, enhancing vessel performance and longevity.
Our collaborative approach, incorporating feedback from both our team and yard personnel, ensures continuous improvement and adherence to high industry standards. Scorpio’s retrofitting achievements, such as installing over 100 scrubbers, 50 ballast water treatment systems, and executing over 10 structural modifications, highlight our expertise in environmental compliance and performance optimization.

Condition & Performance Monitoring
Scorpio’s condition and performance management team excels in driving bottom-line efficiencies and has a proven track record in managing large global fleets of bulk carriers and tankers.
This team consists of over 100 professionals across six countries, providing global coverage with more than 75 clients and over 600 vessels. We handle over 6,500 port calls annually through our in-house Disbursement Accounting (DA) platform, which ensures efficient processes and strict cash management.
Our strong industry relationships have enabled us to secure superior port services contracts in more than 350 ports and some of the best foreign exchange rates, offering significant benefits to our partners. Additionally, our emission management services are unrivaled in the industry, offering customized reports that align with each client’s GHG goals.

Insurance & Shipping Claims
The Marine Insurance and Shipping Claims department handles all manner of disputes and claims arising out of the transportation of goods by sea within the Scorpio group (ie H&M, Loss of Hire, Charterparty/COA/Bill of Lading disputes, MOAs, Crew, cargo, Performance, Business Interruption, E&O etc.). The dedicated Insurance and Shipping Claims teams within the department will deal with these claims according to their expertise providing a 24/7 support service.
Both the Insurance and Shipping Claims team have extensive experience in their fields with the expertise of the Insurance team extending beyond claims handling with the team also able to assist with the facilitation of all Marine (including Liabilities) & Credit lines insurance coverage at the best possible terms, conditions, and at the most competitive rates with reliable security. Indeed, the Insurance team has high expertise on tailor made insurance products taking into consideration the available data of each account but also what the insurance and reinsurance market can be persuaded to offer, offering also a straightforward process and handling of premium and receivables.
Likewise, the expertise and role of the Shipping Claims team is extensive. The team is made up of experienced maritime lawyers working closely with all stakeholders within Scorpio particularly the Insurance and Post fixture teams; the Pools, Chartering and vessel operators, providing legal and strategic advice on the handling of maritime claims both actual and potential. The team’s focus – working closely also with external providers such as P&I Clubs, legal expense insurers, external lawyers and technical experts – is to minimize exposure to maritime claims but also to maximise recovery of debts including the drafting of demands up to the commencement of arbitration for claims such as outstanding demurrage, freight and hire. As part of the effort to minimize exposure the team also advises on and assists in the drafting and review of charterparties, bills of lading, LOIs and other contracts/clauses related to the carriage of goods.
