To help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel by maintaining and repairing propulsion systems, pipelines, engines, auxiliary machinery, and other ship structures and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair the vessel’s mechanical systems and equipment.
- Perform welding and fabrication to create strong and safe connections between metal parts, ensuring structural strength and pipeline integrity.
- Carry out engine room and workshop housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain inventory of engine stores, including welding consumables, as delegated by the 1st Assistant Engineer.
- Comply with safety, environmental, and security procedures and regulations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Knowledge:
- The Fitter must be familiar with company policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations.
- Practice of Seamanship, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of mechanical systems, and welding and metal fabrication techniques.
- Essential knowledge also includes the use of hand and power tools, workshop specialized equipment for ship fitting tasks, and waste management and pollution control practices.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain and assist in repairing deck and engine equipment.
- Proficiency in various welding and fitting techniques, as well as working with shipboard machinery, engines, pumps, and other mechanical systems, is crucial.
Experience:
- Demonstrates reliability and leadership behaviors while supporting deck and engine room equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Has work experience in welding, metal fabrication, fitting, and machining metals.
- Skilfully and safely works with a wide range of tools and specialized equipment in the workshop.
