To assist in the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the ship’s engines, machinery, and engine room spaces.

Key Responsibilities
Participate in engine room watches at sea (including Unmanned Machinery Space operations) and in port as instructed. Assist with daily operations, tasks, and maintenance of engine room equipment and ensure that machinery is adequately lubricated. Perform engine room housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and safe working environment. Help maintain inventory of stores and other items as delegated by the 1st Assistant Engineer. Comply with safety, environmental, and security procedures and regulations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- The Oiler must be familiar with company policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations. Maintenance of auxiliary machinery practical knowledge.
- Use of hand and power tools, as well as specialized workshop equipment.
- Demonstrates reliability and leadership behaviors in supporting engine room operations and watchkeeping.
- Effectively carries out engine room housekeeping and cosmetic maintenance.
- Provides reliable support in engine room machinery maintenance activities.
